Yes, the Cassiopeia E-100 has a 131mhz VR4121 MIPS processor made by NEC with
16Mb ram, while the E-105 has 32Mb ram ,so they have interesting possibilities
for playing chess. If I remember correctly, the CPU has 24Kb of cache divided
into 2 unequal parts. One for data & one for instructions. You can check the NEC
site for more detailed & more reliable information on the processor.

There is a review of Purple Chess vs Pocket Chess at
http://5alive.psionking.com/Documents98/battle_of_wills.htm

The reviewer was not a strong player. The reviewer set both programs at their
respective highest settings with Purple Chess averaging 3 minutes per move and
Pocket Chess averaging 1 minute 45 seconds per move. Not a fair test, but the
programs are quite bad in any event. I'm a master so my only interest in them is
as a portable chess viewer. I think these programs were intended to run in a
small amount of memory (less than 4Mb at least) and may not even uses hash
tables. Another bad thing is none of the chess programs I have seen for WinCE
display analysis. Pocket Chess is freeware and may be the strongest, but I can't
recommend it for playing chess. The following game is from the review:
