The Crazy Bishop is Winboard compatible, and has proven on several occasions that it can compete with some success against Crafty. Arasan comes in two flavors: it's own GUI, or a Winboard engine. It's strong and very well written. Studying Jon's code is like reading poetry. :-) (Yeah, I know that sounds pretty cheesy, but I'm really not kidding.
