here is what I run with all the time:

hash=384M
hashp=32m
cache=32m
tbpath=(/fast1/TB:/fast2/TB:/fast3/TB)
egtb
mt=4

I don't touch _anything_ else... the only other thing I add is the infamous
list S +name1 +name2 etc
command to add trojan horse players to the list to stop them.
