There were some winboard-tournaments by Frank Quisinky, Kai Skibbe
and Christian Koch. The top 5 freely available engines in the most
recent tournament were:

Crafty 16.11-16.15
Little Goliath 2000 beta
Comet B04-B05
AnMon 4.26-4.27
Patzer 3.0

Bionic didn't participate, because it is a Crafty-clone.
TCB didn't participate, but IMO it is very strong, especially at blitz.
