GM Hoffman had kib set to 1, which means he could see everything being kibitzed. Therefore it makes sense to whisper instead of kibitz. In an ideal world, someone would make sure that kib=0 for the GM. But since this wasn't the case, and since it is just as easy to whisper as it is to kibitz, and since it's a bit rude to kibitz on a human's game and since we're all desparate to see this series of games continue, I think it's not unreasonable to ask spectators to use whisper.
