Not everyone is a criminal or a cheater, at least not when the stakes are low. If you want to play for a million bucks, sure, play in person, and make sure you check the GM's hearing aid to make sure it's not a radio transmitter. But what Ed is doing wouldn't be possible live, he'd have a hard time travelling or getting the GM's to travel. My program has played lots of publicized matches over the internet. There was no money at stake, but there was some ego. I've never had any reason to suspect that one of these guys who try to cheat somehow. Life is too short to spend it worrying that people are ripping you off in trivial ways. Also, if a GM did try to use a computer against Rebel in these matches, Ed would simply kick the hell out of it. These guys don't tend to have the latest hardware, they'd be on something slow, and Ed has something that is beyond fast, you can bet on it. My program played some games against an IM + slower computer and the IM had a really hard time scoring points. bruce
