I agree completely. I've turned down more than one purchase because the manufacturer put white pieces on white squares and/or black on black. It also wouldn't hurt if they'd establish some kind of a standard for proportion of piece size to square. It really takes something away when the pieces are crowed together or spaced too far apart.
