The Karpov GM is without a doubt my favourite dedicated unit. The full-size, feather touch auto-sensor board makes it a delight to play...very natural. Overall, I would estimate the strength at about 2000-2100. It's not going to have the crushing strength of a fast PC based program. It's just fun to play. Once you get used to it you won't want to go back to a pressure sensor board. I'm an intermediate player using my PC based stuff for analysis and openings research. For actual games I use the GM becasue it's more natural and fun. The manual the machine comes with a great manual for explaining features but there is virtually no tech info at all. The tutorials and features are minimal, nothing to speak of. One other tip. It eats batteries...typicaly 4 AA in 20 to 25 hours. Get the AC adaptor! I'm pretty fussy so I made some modificatins to the pieces and playing surface but that is certainly not required. I've probably had over 40 different dedicated units and software units in the last 20 years so I know what I'm talking about! Check it out on the Your Move site. Later Dave
