>Thanks claudio - just one thing - when you say "default" does that mean as low >as the hashtables go, which is 64. Bob Hyatt pointed that out a while ago here, when discussing hash table settings and using the guidelines for choosing the right size. Some people concluded that you should make the hash table smaller with shorter time controls, but he pointed out that basically you should make the hash table as BIG as possible. Only "but": without starting the engine swapping the tables to hard disk. If you start playing and your hard disk starts to rumble without Hiarcs starting to play, you know your HT's are too big. Hearing nothing means make them bigger. The more positions stored, the more Hiarcs can do with them. I have 256Mb internal RAM and HT 128Mb does fine. For 128Mb I think 64-80 Mb could do well. >Also, how do you stop the analysis display >because it seems to always "pop" up even though you dont want it there. Once >again, thanks. Under the button "setup" at the bottom of the screen there's a nifty option "screen lay-out". You can also call this screen by right clicking your mouse somewhere under the board window. Uncheck the "search info display" and that rash is gone :-) BTW already mentioned: you'll find a manual on the Hiarcs CD under the directory manuals in different formats. Good luck. Jeroen ;-}
