Others more knowledgeable will most likely follow,
but, having spent all evening 'finally' finding the rather large bug
in my Static Exchange Evaluator (SEE) I can say this.

The SEE function is used for discarding worthless captures without having to
search them in the QSearch, and for move ordering by placing winning exchanges
with winning captures.

If done right (as pointed out to me by many) it should not change the PV, just
help you get there faster.

You don't need a SEE to get the right move, but it takes more time.
You also don't need a hash table or null moves either -- TSCP plays chess
without them. BUT, it takes forever to reach 8 ply without these things because
it searches a lot of unimportant nodes.

Hope this helps.
