I hope that you are right about Junior but I have no clear evidence that you are right. I think that crafty is better than Junior in some positional elements. For example Crafty knows that KBPP vs K is a draw if the bishop is blind and does not control the promotion square when Junior does not know it. I also know about other cases when Crafty shows better positional understanding relative to Junior. For example Junior had positional problems in the evaluation of the endgame in WCCC against shredder when Crafty has better positional understanding of this endgame. There are of course cases when the opposite is truth but we need games at long time control to prove if you are right or wrong and the only games we have are the games of Rebel at 1 hour per move when Crafty had the best results against Rebel. I remember that Rebel did a stupid tactical mistake in one of these games against Crafty16.6 (mistake that other programs can avoid in a few minutes) and we need more games to know if Crafty is better or worse than other programs at long time controls.
