Do you mean physical chess sets? Or computer chess sets (graphics?).

One good source for the latter are computer chess fonts, such as the
freeware ones at: http://www.enpassant.dk/chess/fonteng.htm

For physical chess sets, the sets sold by the USCF (www.uschess.org),
Toys Are Us ( "Pavilion Master Chess"), are less than $10.
