The Grandmaster has a display and control buttons on both sides of the board so you can sit on either the white side or the black side when playing. The Cougar, like the older GK2100, allows you to sit in one place and have your choice of either playing black or white (the feature is called "Playing Black from the Bottom".) We have had very few problems with the Excalibur Grandmaster. The biggest complaint that we hear is that the green board occasionally peels up on the sides, but they have mostly corrected that problem in the new ones that we now sell. The fix, if it happens, is to apply a drop of Elmer's glue. - Steve (ICD/Your Move Chess & Games)
