It depends on what you want if for.  As a polished program packed with features
and pretty strong engine, it is.  If you want a ulta-strong engine, you need to
look elsewhere.

Personally, I always loved the feature of setting up different personalities.  I
 tailor them to people I play in real life and it is most benefitial.

Any way.  To each there own.  CM isn't the final word in computer chess by any
stretch of the imagination, but I don't think its "crap" either.
