This would be nothing short of wonderful, and a boon to the Mac chess community
in my opinion.  (Personally it would make it much easier for me to get on line
with screamer.)  The protocol is reasonable, its the implementation within
programs that cause problems.  If you do not yet have the 2.0 protocol, let me
know.  If you would like to see my source code, I'll send it.  Rolf has his own
set of functions that he will send with the protocol if you ask. Let me know how
I can help.
