Apparently the Quake people are working on an SMP version of that. Presumably to
run on Linux, since Win98 doesn't do SMP. Games will probably be a significant
part of the computer market, especially for computers which are not the
cheapest/slowest you can buy. So i think SMP will take off in the mid-range,
even for home game machines.

The dual celeron machines are quite cheap and i already know a few home users
who have them. SMP chess would be a small market now but i think may be about
20% to 40% of the market within 3 years.

Of course the extra 60 rating points for 2 way SMP is pretty irrelevant for most
computer chess buyers who are already at least 1000 points weaker than their
computers. But that won't stop them.
