I was actually doing this yesterday ... I was playing myself over the network (had two clients up). I can do this on the Mac, by playing a program through the ExaChess interface, so I see two boards - the board of the program I'm playing (from the program's point of view) and the ExaChess board I'm entering my moves on. Perhaps a similar approach could be used on the PC using Winboard as the human's board, and also having the program's native board up? Richard A.
