However, there is a danger in this.  The stuff you get off of the net (like from
my site) tends to be collected from a bazillion different sources.  When you
want to *find* something later, it can be problematic.  For instance, if you are
looking for games by Bobby Fischer, you might have:
R Fischer
R.J. Fischer
Fischer, Bobby
Fischer, B
Fischer, R
and a billion other mutations, along with misspellings.

A commercial system will have the names sanitized and organized.  It will have
duplicates removed along with errors in data entry cleaned up.  In my chess
database, a lot of the games will be real bowsers.  Pretty much all of the games
in a commercial system will be important or interesting or between great players
or have some sort of "reason to be."

You get what you pay for.  Personally, I like Chess Assistant.  I kind of like
Bookup also.  I cannot compare with other chess database systems (which I have
not tried), but I suspect I would like them also.

You just can't have too many toys.
