You can see book learning at work in the Fritz family of programs (Fritz, Nimzo,
Hiarcs 7.32, Junior).  It's particularly obvious if you run a large number of
engine vs engine games.  You can see the opening selection begin to change, and
watch as the probability values change in the opening tree.

The Chessmaster series of programs is excellent in many ways, but if version
7000 doesn't at least have book learning, I see no reason to upgrade from
CM6000.
