You mean cheating with computers. It's nauseating. But you are right. At STC weak players (like me) are much stronger than at blitz levels. It's quite logical. In a recent correspondence game I drawed against my opponent. After analyzing the game 90% of the moves I played were also indicated by Hiarcs. For Fritz it was somewhat lower. Based on the rating of my opponent (whom I played more often over the years) I would have a corresponce rating of about Elo 1900. At ICS like Chess.net I'm happy if my chess.net blitz rating stays within the 1400-1500 limit, maybe Elo 1300 or so. My feeling tells me that when playing on a ICS your opponent plays in stc (that is mostly not more than 30,0 at best) with roughly a minute time per move and he scores those kind of figures like I mentioned before after checking with a program like Hiarcs, Fritz Junior or so..... ....well, let me state it more careful. I strongly suspect computer assistance in that case. BTW no problem, as long as he/she tells me. That gives me the opportunity to find a human opponent. And for the record - I do NOT suggest that the CS Tal opponent did cheat. It is a general posting about computer assistance. Jeroen ;-}
