I thought the problem with the generall chessbase-wb adaptor -- that it restarted the program (like crafty) for every move was a somehow medium one. Well, its a big one, forget about that "adaptor" and shame on chessbase. Because Crafty can't store any thinking time (cause of restarts) it gets the information to make like 8 moves/1 minute from Fritz in a 10Min Game. Now what happenes if the game gets >80 moves ... got it ? Or if the position gets very complicated after 20 moves ... I would be interested how the recompiled engines from the CB-site compare to the real programs (most up-to date is CometB04 and Crafty16.13 I believe) ... are they much worse in cb enviroment, too? Or is the speed loss acceptable ? btw, it shouldn't be too hard to write a real wb adaptor, that _really_ behaves like wb. Guess the cb guys were too busy creating the wooden and marble board for fritz6. .. Something totally different (but I'm not gonna create another threat, I don't want to use too much of this message-board space ;-) ): has anyone of the better wb-programs people thought about implementing a script language like nimzo's che++ ? I think the concept is pretty interesting but it looks like the che++ version of nimzo is much slower (source: chessbits). Bye for now, Tec--
