Like UruChess XXVIII-IX-MCMXCIX ? :-)

OK. To be serious, I have seen roman numbers in names, and it feels quite
good. (Colossus Chess X)

My program's name has been for some time simply "NERO 5", Only in it's
README-file, I tell e.g. that this one is "Version 23.09.99". It could
be also "version 5.8.4." or "version LXVII", or anything, but I like the
date-based version number, which also tells how new/old it is.

I don't use this title elsewhere than in README. If I did, it could feel
a little bit clumsy.
