Imagine if the SSDF went away. Imagine if the SSDF had to follow any rule that anyone decided to set for them. Not a good situation in either case. You do have some good suggestions, though. Most people have no clue what the list even means. It might be good to try do explain the data in such a way that the mathematically disinclined can get some clue of what it means.
