My program played its first move late in 1968. My first ACM computer chess event was 1976. I've been going for 31+ years now and haven't stopped yet. To my wife's chagrin I should add. :) We have been married for about as long (got married in June, 1968, was already working on my program then). I have gotten used to the occasional "Are you working on that chess shit, or are you working on something serious?" I always answer "yes and yes" which is good for a glare or two. :) But she has pretty well given up on my ever stopping, and has made plans to have me buried with my trusty notebook so I can continue work no matter which 'direction' I go after death. :) Bob
