If you use Fritz5.32 with the Power Book CD and use the original weighting% and
start a game by playing 1) e4 with the "Variety of Play" on 100% the only moves
the program will play is 1)...c5, 1)...g5, 1)...h5. If you place the "Variety of
Play at about 80% it will actually play more moves which are: c5, e5, e6, g6,
c5, a5, h5. Note with either setting the computer will not play some main lines;
i.e., c6, d6, d5. This is pathetic.

Please set your system up like this and see what you get.

I call Chessbase USA early this year about this problem and they confirmed that
I was right and indeed the program was not working correctly. Don Maddox claims
Fritz6 will fix this.
