Because of DB's heavy use of search extensions, any answer on your second question is moot. See Ed's post re: search comparison of two programs by ply depth. (Speed of Hiarc's...) Unless you can eliminate the search extensions (and if you do you have certainly changed the whole program), you can't make real comparisons between programs searching the same number of ply. The extensions make all the difference! Dave
