Thanks! I've used Chessmaster 5000, Chess Mentor, and Gromit on my Mac under Softwindows. I have to believe it is half as slow (or slower) than running the program "native", which will cost strength. I haven't run any speed comparisons on emulated Windows vs. true Windows, but I have run a number of comparisons between code compiled for native PowerMac and for 68K code running under emulation. So, bottom line is, it will almost certainly work, but it will be like running it on a slow Pentium. Note that, currently, HIARCS 7.0, Virtual Chess and Crafty run native on PowerMacs, and and that the Chessmaster site is promising Chessmaster 6000 on the Mac by Christmas (Chessmaster 4000 is the current Mac version).
