It is easy to underestimate the value of the bishop. The bishop accomplishes its task with fewer moves since it is a long range piece. This gives the other forces more time to "do their thing". The knight is more of a "ball hog". It uses up more tempi. Comparing their relative values is not so simple, because of this.
