Tim Diamond (Green Lights Chess) explained the whole theory of rotated bitboards
to me (thanks a _lot_, Tim), and I implemented them following his model. I am
happy to say my bitboard code is 100% my own, although I believe it works very
similarly to Crafty's bitboards.

I suspect Green Lights Chess, Insomniac, Tristram?, and maybe Arasan? use
bitboards most like Crafty...?? In other words, put my program's name in a
prominent place in your paper. :)
