I see no problem in engine-engine games without permanent brain.
What is the problem with the timing functions?

I see that some engines use some rules about using times (for example using more
time when they fail low)

I see no problem with timing functions.
Can you give me an example to demonstrate one problem with timing function that
you see in engine-engine games and not in regular games?
