Hi Micheal,
My comiserations,

The good side:
  You may have stopped a lot of people from buying this;
  You've sent the message to Mindscape;
  You didn't pay a great deal for it hopefully;
  (I hope you told your dealer what you think of it too);

The bad side:
  It's pure deja vu
When I first joined the WWW (to watch Karpov Kamsky) RGCC had a series of posts
bemoaning CM5k for it's bugs and lack of promised enhancements. I lurked along
learning (& saving my $50) until the US contingent tried to organise a legal
action against Mindscape to get their $29.95US back. I jumped in then (as is my
style) abusing these guys for even considering legal action, and talked about
markets & buyer beware. I got accused of being a lady trucker & a toilet mouth
(half true).

When I first joined CCC there was a series of posts bemoaning CM6k for it's bugs
and lack of promised enhancements. Then surprise surprise the US poster saying
"lets get together & sue Mindscape". I jumped in then (as is my style) abusing
this guy for even considering legal action, and talked about markets & buyer
beware. That post got moderated away (fair enough).

I finally bought CM6k after the hub-ub died down, & because I could get it for
$17AU from a www games-shop in Germany. I love it's engine, I like being able
to twiddle it's engine to give more varied play. I hate it's interface & it's
analysis (during the move) disability.

I decided to buy CM7k even without the engine: after I'd seen some comments here
and on RGCC; if it had improved it's analysis features; and once I could get it
for < $30AU.

You've turned me right off it (thanks). If there's even a threat that it'll
stall my Colin McRae Audi, or freeze my Excel to Powerpoint presentations, then
no way. I'll stay with Rebel10b & Hiarcs 7.32 & play there until my christmas
RebelCentury arrives.

PS: I assume you installed CM7k on your friends computer so he could assess it &
buy it if he liked it!! Hasn't it got "insert the CD" protection?

Anyway,
you're Aussie enough to take this on the chin. What about the poor people who
are spending 10s of hours on the web stealing CM7k just so it can bugger up
their stolen DirectX?

I reckon you shoulda sent your credit card number to Ed for the next Rebel!

cheers guys,
Tina Long
