It stuffs up some of my other programs, >which I cannot sacrafice to keep this crappy CM program on my system does it try to install a new DirectX? If so it is quite strange, some times I did try to install older (or not new) versions of DirectX and often I was getting the message like: "your machine does not need an upgrade of the video driver". Either this is a Microsoft (yet again) bug in the DirectX procedure, or there was something strange happening. On the other side if it was just a wrong/old driver, reinstalling the new one does prevent CM7K from working properly? In any case I suggest you to do this: - open the Start-Find panel of Windows9x - search for all .dll files and look for duplicate names (you should be able to spot files that are in two locations and with the same name) - if you find any keep only the most recent one and keep it in the windows/system folder (neglect duplicates in the sysbackup folder) there are also software that do this job for you regards Franz
