Well, here is my two cents (keep in mind that I am not
paid by any of the mentioned companies, I work in a different
industry). Also, I do not plan to buy any new Software, but
may change my mind and my wife will have my christmas list. :)

Rebel and Fritz both look good at a good price. Rebel has a
good history of customer support, books provided free, nice
website, strong program and has been doing well against GM's. This
is a good product with a proven record against GM's, computers,
or just woodpushers like me. :) Thanks Ed.

Fritz is strong (SSDF) and has success against GM's (time controls
may be less than 40/2, but very impressive). Good DB support.

Both of these are very reasonable. My top two commercial pics.

I would also recommend Hiarcs and Junior, the people that have these
are very loyal, see the posts, and the cost is reasonable.

Let me say that as a hobbiest in Computer Chess, Crafty/Winboard is my
favorite. Easy to build books, Table Base support, strong engine, GUI,
multiprocessor, source code, proven record. THANKS BOB!

Oh, ICD is the best place to purchase from and I am sure they can provide
more/better input on which program to buy to meet your needs.

Best Regards,
Chris Carson
