Well, if they fixed some bug which affects the engine e.g. some threead scheduling or priority setting or memory allocation type (to control paging), which engine wouldn't be bothering with but the shell around it would. Even the issue when the pondering starts makes difference, i.e. I am noticing that as soon as it is out of the book, on its turn it starts calculating with 5-7 ply (depending on how quickly I respond) depth already worked out. And to say nothing about effects of some random memory corruption bugs, where UI modifies, say, hash tables. Several people had reported weird non-reproducable moves by H732, so they may well have that kind of bug.
