I simply give credit where credit is due. I support Chessmaster (not including
CM7K) mainly due to its great engine. It took some time for people to realise
that just because CM does not have the bell and whistles that the other more
dedicated chess programs have, that for some reason it can only play crap chess.

So when people go out and rubbish the program they can only be talking about its
features, Some features are great and other program could learn from it. I would
love the personalities feature to be put into other programs to the scale that
CM6K has. And a few other things.

It is just a shame that even after all Chessmaster has achieved, that it still
need to be defended.

They released this product too early, they should have done the beta testing and
not left it up to the mass market to find faults and report them so they can
bring out their patches down the line. This is just not good enough and very,
very pathetic.

Mindscape would have to have the resources and backing that puts it streets
ahead of any other chess program maker. They have to do better.

All of these views I send to Mindscape in the hope that they will finally
listen. The mere fact that they say they will bring out an autoplayer in time
with a patch is proof that this is still a work in progress. They have no right
to subject the market to this poor service.

Maybe the mass market will put up with this crap. But up until CM5K I did not
have access to the net, and I would suspect that people will not be able to, or
even know that there are patches available or soon to come for CM7K. We should
have a fully working product on the first go and I will keep telling them this.

CM6K had 3 patches, which is 3 too many.

Mindscape should get it right, or keep their product the hell out of the market
place till they test and make sure there is no crap left.
