I agree.  Engine improvement/strength is the only feature that drives me to
buy a program/upgrade.  Next is quality of Opening Book, ability
to add to opeing book from PGN files, Good DB features rank as a
nice feature, but not a driving requirement for me.  Windows OS and
price are the final things I consider before I buy.

For engine strength, I need prof that the engine is strong.  SSDF or
games against GM's.

I will not buy just to get improved GUI.  Interface is not even on my
radar map of reasons to buy a chess engine.

I will not buy CM7K and I am a long time user of the CM products dating
back to CM4K.
