Subject: New engine in CM7000 ?

Hi
I am suspecting CM7000 has a new engine but this fact is beeing hidden
for some legal reason.

Here are some tests I did. The hardware PII450 192 meg mem. home made.
Both CM6000 and CM7000 32 meg hash. Now this hashtable is a question mark
if they changed the formula in CM700 this makes all comparisons
meaningless. Anyway HT settings ttable_size=25 which is 32 meg.

Test 1: Infinite time. white move h2-h3 it took CM6000 1min25sec to reach
        ply 05/11 same test with CM7000 1min54sec.

Test 2: A mate in 13 problem which first move was not a check.
CM6000 4second CM7000 8second. This was not tested with the
mate finder level but 30sec per move because mate finder levels
are both 0 second with both programs.

Test 3: Infinite time.White plays h2-h3. To reach 5.000.000 position searched
        CM6000 took 1min13sec and CM7000 1min19sec.

The tests are by no means perfect but I restarted the computer before each
run and both programs have the same sound and display(more or less) options.

Now what does all this mean? If both programs have the same engine I will
say Mindscape messedup this version. But if CM7000 has a new engine, because
it is running slower this does not mean it is weaker.

We all know Hiarcs7.32 runs MUCH slower then Fritz5.32 but their strength is
almost same.

Any comments on this?

Best regards
Murat
