I then clicked on the topmost icon which brings up the Chessmaster guru(chuckle) surrounded by all the room icons. Choosing the database option from there opened it properly. Additionally the day I installed, the program bombed off with an illegal operation error three times in two hours. I chose the custom install for everything except Directx 6.1 which were already on my system. I then downloaded and installed Directx 7.0 and since then the program has not bombed. Coincidence? Who knows! My system is a PII 300MHZ with 128Meg of memory and Diamond Viper 770 video. (No, CM7K did not over-write the video drivers) Steve
