Steve, I think you are talking the opinion poll idea too seriously. The opinion poll should be a place for a occasional random interesting question. I do not think that there should necessarily be an opinion poll question every week, or month, or even two months. I also do not think that most every huge thread here on the board should generate an opinion poll question. Of course if you generate a question based on a huge thread, you will get people who dislike the question or disagree with you answering it or whatever. In fact, no matter what the source of any given question, chances are that it will bug someone somehow. But I think you shouldn't push so hard for opinion poll questions. Unlike the news media, we here on this forum do not have to generate "artificial" news and ideas. There is plenty of posts being generated every day in order to satisfy most people's desire for computer chess related material. I think you should take a more laid back approach. If someone comes up with a question and answers, great. If not, ok. If an opinion poll question does not get put up for 6 months, ok. Don't take this post of mine to mean that I dislike the opinion polls. On the contrary, I find them mostly interesting. But I do think that you seem to feel that they are an integral part of this forum and have to be perpetuated for some reason. I do not think that is the case. They are an interesting addition, but I do not think you have to worry so much if they are not there in any given month. Don't worry. Be happy. Just my opinion. KarinsDad :)
