The only thing I know is that Ed Schröder (Rebel) says it is 6% slower then AMD K6-3 (clockwise). So I guess it´s about the same for other chessprograms. With better motherboards I guess it is no difference. It´s faster then Pentium3 especially on "big" programs. As far as I know only Crafty and Gandalf3 dislikes AMD for some reason.
