I use computer versus computer matches against GNUchess under WinBoard/XBoard as a benchmark for my program. I know this is an unsound way of measuring absolute performance, but it does provides some data because the gap between the two programs was initially very large. So I was looking forward to the contest against the latest version but have failed to get it talk to XBoard under Linux. Nor can I compile it with the O3 flag – which is set with the supplied makefile. I am using the gnuCC which came with SuSE 6.2. Any help would be appreciated. The supplied binary works fine in console mode, as does the one I compiled with –O Frank
