However: the fan on my CPU failed, the pc was beeping all night long to warn me of an overheating CPU, unfortunately in the morning I had a fried CPU. Have I stopped running overnight etc? No. Some systems will protect a CPU from overheating mine did not - you may want to check this out - I must stress this is rare and we too have machines on at work 24x365 without problems.
