Subject: Caution to Rebel Century users

I just recently acquired Rebel Century. I have had no trouble installing
or running it and I am impressed with it overall. But I did come across
a little pitfall when I began to experiment with the various chess personalities
in the pulldown menu Extra under Define Personality.
I discovered that upon exiting Define Personality and returning to the
board it is not enough to set it at its strongest settings via the Option menu.
Before exiting Define Personality, you must load the Rebel
Personality. If you do not, if for example you leave Define Personality
with the Novice Personality showing, and set the strongest settings in
the Option menu, it will look like you are playing Rebel Century at its
strongest (the Option menu will show the normal personality) but in fact
you will be playing the Novice Personality regardless of what the Option
menu says.
This could lead to some disappointing results of course. So be warned.
If you experiment with selecting or creating personalities under the
Extra menu, reload Rebel before you go back to the Board,or you may be
fooled into thinking it is not a strong program. At its default settings,
it appears to me to be extremely strong.
