Many chess programs! - I've been addicted to chess software, chess books, and other chess stuff for several years now, having the chess job I wanted doesn't change that at all. One of my next projects will be to catalog the Marshall Chess Club's book library. I love everything about chess. (except losing). And I'm trying to understand the psychology of losing (and appreciating what my losing does for my opponent's feelings), too, since I am, after-all, so good at doing that:), and as I grow older (& more feeble), I realize I want my oponnent's to feel beter (& of course, join the Marshall Chess Club). I like to think I'm following in Frank's footsteps in a way, because as he grew older, he captained US Teams & coached younger player's at his own club. I've (re)discovered recently that my favoright chess player & chess personality in history is definately Emanuel Lasker. He knew that above all else, chess is a fight, and also basically stated that is what [men] in most cultures revel in; consequently, when he played, he took into account not only what was going on in the game and on the board, but also, was intuitive or introspective(& shrewed!), enough to figure out what was going on in his opponent's head as well. (Is Anti-GM an attempt at this kind of thing?). Since I have to run the Friday night rapids now, I don't get to play in the event (as director, I'm not allowed to play), I really try to focus on our regular player's personalities, as well as their chess openings, so that when I can find someone to run the event for me, I can try my finding(s) in this. Oh btw, the Marshall is only around the corner from Washington Square Park. Me, I have to commute 33 miles from Levittown Long Island, each day I work there:) Larry On November 01, 1999 at 07:30:26, Jeroen van Dorp wrote: >Larry, > >With the Marshall around the corner, what are you doing with a chess program? > >:)) > >Jeroen ;-}
