For the most part I too like the new navigation modes. I took the advice of a
prior post and now have the 1.0.3 upgrade. I did this via the Mplayer site and
it took me about an hour to "dumbsnoot" my way through it. It's too soon to
tell what the patch accomplished.

One thing I've noticed is that Mindscape apparently removed the capability of
setting up personality vs. personality tournaments where a personality of your
invention can compete with Chessmaster (or any other personality) there. In
CM6000, head to head matches with Chessmaster and the CM6666 settings (posted in
this forum) resulted in a distinct edge to CM6666. The inability to invent a
personality and track its performance against Chessmaster is disappointing.

Whether or not the upgrade for CM7000 is worth it or not is for individuals to
decide. I am warming up to the GUI. But after all, the computer chess addict
is duty-bound to offet the negatives with the positives. (Gotta get rid of that
post-purchase dissonance as best I can). <S>
