Most people who were active on the MS BBS were quoting analysis from Crafty and to a lesser extent Fritz. But remember there were probably many thousand voting most of whom never said a word in the online conferences so the 'world team' could have been using just about anything they wanted, including programs not in the public domain (obviously I accept Bruce's statement about his particular program). I don't recall anyone mentioning in public any SMP Crafty analysis, I ran Crafty on a 633Mhz alpha box and the depth of analysis I got seemed roughly in line with what others were reporting. On the original point about the mate in 25 claim from Kasparov I thought that was pretty suspect too. Ian Kennedy
