>Do we want to link only formal URLs like http://www....com/... or partial URLs >like www.....com/... > >How do we recognize when someone puts their URL in parenthesis, brackets, >braces, or put periods, commas, exclams, etc. (http://www...com/). without >thinking that the end parenthesis or punctuation is part of the URL. > You can come up with a simple non-confusing convention, then put a syntax help link on the message editor screen, and whoever needs to put a link will do it, even though they may have to do it only in certain ways. That still beats the "no way" option. >How about things like ftp://....., news:...., mailto:...., telnet:// etc.? > http:// and ftp:// etc, all could turn into links, unless in quotes. >Adding an FEN to diagram converter wouldn't be too hard either, it's just a >question of finding the time to do it. > That would be a neat and a pretty unique feature. One thing to watch is to somehow fit both, the message and the diagram on the screen, so that one can read comments about the position while watching the diagram. Embedded form of picture inside the text (at the place where fen string occurs) might be the optimal if it isn't too hard to do. The diagrams shouldn't be to tiny.
