I've seen instances like this with my own program.  It's not that
it crashed or hung, but that for whatever reason Winboard didn't
accept my program's move, so eventually the flag fell and it lost
on time.  Afterward, Winboard immediately sent out the 'gameend'
alias to the server, which sent ads for three different time controls.
As soon as one was accepted the program resumed play from the start
position.  No crash, no hang.  At least not on my program's part.

James Robertson has experienced similar problems with Winboard.
He posted a portion of the debug file a few weeks ago.
Hopefully he forwarded it on to Tim, but I'm not sure if he
did.

Isn't it possible that the same thing happened to Crafty?
I understand your point, but I really don't think Bob would
write code to do this intentionally.

I think that if all concerned parties looked at this objectively,
without the accusations and finger pointing, some resolution
could be made.  It's a shame to see things come to this.
