I think it was already mentioned in one of the previous threads that died down, but anyway... Sometimes a program and winboard get out of sync move-wise, so the program ends up spinning until time runs out (and it will usually lose, of course), then when a new game starts things get reset and stuff goes back to normal. One of the people who have written a chess engine to work with Winboard might be able to give more details. Dave
