Both are "Experimental" new engines. Both Chessmaster 6000 and 7000 have the same engine King 2.61, at the Dutch was King 3.x. The bugs in CM7k seem to be mainly video card related. If it is the engine that excites you most, my recommendation (which means little by the way), would be to shop around the net eg http://www.icdchess.com for a very cheap version of the now "superceded" CM6k.
